These are really the same thing but I will differentiate between the two by saying that the Newsletter never allows the general population to write a letter to the group. Mailing lists often do allow: more than one, just members, submissions passed by a moderator, even the general public at large to write a letter to the entire list of subscribers. These are valuable tools to get in touch with customers, friends, club or church members. Just write one e-mail to the list and the software sends an identical e-mail to each and every member of the list. Back to the top Newsletter You may not want need one right now, but a Newsletter can be a great way to send monthly reports, update information, current events, informative tutorials, even that free advertising. Put a link on your page inviting visitors to send a letter with subscribe in the subject line, the software does all the rest. It adds their information to the list and next time you send out a mailing, they are included and receive a copy. Our version is much easier to set up and use than Majordomo, but the look and feel are very similar, and best of all NO branding or advertisement for anyone (but you if you want) Back to the top Mailing List This is a super service that you can perform for the family, a church group, club, or even an opt in for a group with similar interests. I have opted in for letters from other programmers with special interests, like bots. To opt in, you send a letter to the list, with subscribe in the subject line. Then, you will start receiving all letters sent to the list. Depending on the rules the list owner chose, you will also be able to send a letter to the list and everyone on the list will get a copy. Sometimes the list owner will choose to have a moderator or two in which case the moderator will get all letters to the list and if the moderator approves the letter then it goes out to the members. Of course, all members e-mail addresses are known only by the list (and maybe the webmaster) no one has access to that information, and members may opt out as easily as they got in, by sending a letter to the list with unsubscribe in the subject line. Great software, provided by your host Rosserver.com. Back to the top
