It really is a shame that this even has to be discussed, but there are hosts out there that limit your ability to reach your site to load it and make changes. Some limit your access to certain times of the day, or days of the week. Some hosts limit the number of times you may make changes per week or per month. The worst possible (and I see it every once in a while) is the hosts that require you to e-mail in your changes to the support department and wait for the support guys to post them to your account. We will always let you access your account on our server, even our backups are automatic, and will not interfere with your site's availability. Back to the top Anonymous FTP To allow others to upload files to your server, all but the budget account have an option called Anonymous FTP available at the push of a button from the Server Control Panel. This can present a risk to your account so it does not come installed. The other precautions include: only one directory available to uploaders, none are executable, none are available to downloaders until you approve them and thorough instructions on our policy regarding your responsibility for your anonymous clients. Back to the top Other Options Fetch works just fine for all of our clients that use a Mac at home or work (6 to 8 percent) We have an option in the server control panel called File Manager, you can write the pages there or cut-n-paste right over your web browser. There is an option in the control panel that executes a program called Site Designer that will write a web page for you, don't tell me if you use it -- I won't invite you to my parties if you do. Telnet is NOT available, but if you HAVE to have it, drop us a line and tell us why .... it can be done. Back to the top
